TWINNING MG 19 FED AG 01 21 – « Support to improve the sanitary and phytosanitary quality monitoring and control system and compliance of agricultural and agri-food products in Madagascar«
On June 7th 2023, The SPS Madagascar-France/Italy Twinning team took part in the 5th World Food Safety Day organised jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The celebration of this global event was organised locally by the National Codex Alimentarius Committee (CNCA) on the square in front of the City Hall in Antananarivo (Analakely).
A session of presentations and round tables brought together the various stakeholders working in the field of food safety in Madagascar in general and in Antananarivo in particular, namely the official services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MINAE), as well as the city’s municipal services and the ministry in charge of public health. There were also representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, consumer associations, other organisations working in the field of nutrition and the fight against food insecurity, such as the World Food Programme (WFP), as well as various NGOs working in the agricultural sector.
The Resident Twinning Advisor (RTA) team welcomed a large audience to its stand and distributed goodies in the SPS twinning colors (caps, pens…) to those who completed a questionnaire on sanitary and phytosanitary issues and food safety, as well as on the twinning’s new communication tools: logo and presentation brochure.
